Kelley O'Leary // Collective Geographies October 1 – December 31, 2017 Opening Reception: Saturday, November 18, 2017 2-5pm Public event: "Discover your District" with District 4 Supervisor Katy Tang, Saturday October 28, 2017 11-1pm San Francisco, CA – Combining both analog research methods and Google Street View technology, artist Kelley O’Leary will map the Outer Sunset in a way that fuses physical, digital, and psychological geographies and re-inserts the narratives, emotion and experience that Google’s Street View project can never capture. At a time when the neighborhood, the city, and the nation are experiencing rapid transformation, Collective Geographies provides an opportunity for reflection, dialogue, and a glimpse of the innumerable layers of community and connection shared through place.
O’Leary invites the public to contribute memories associated with a street address in the Outer Sunset, loosely defined as west of 19th Avenue, north of Sloat Blvd, and south of Golden Gate Park. Each locale will be added to a large-scale archival collage in the gallery, and each memory will be collected in a set of corresponding cards for visitors to explore.
Contributors can mail or drop a note with a memory and address through the mail slot at:
