Continuous Substances: Pool, 2019
Acrylic, water, kiln-formed glass
36" x 36" x 6"
Through reflection and transparency, the viewer approaches and invests themselves as being part of a space rather than a passive viewer. This transparent three-dimensional form relies on the surrounding environmental context to appear and convey a bleeding of perceived boundaries. The only color in the piece derives from the reflected blue wavelengths of light from the water. The glass disks floating on the surface of the water create an illusion of infinity in the reflective surfaces. The disks move slowly and freely, suggesting constant change and movement within the structured lines of the geometric form.
